Set within the leafy surrounds of Ormiston, this considered residential transformation redefines the way a family home can feel - light-filled, expansive, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
Originally conceived as a modest upgrade, the brief began with the addition of a pool and a new kitchen. However, upon review of the existing layout, it became clear the home was constrained - dark, inward-looking, and disconnected. What followed was a complete reimagining of the spatial experience.
Engaged in collaboration with builders Homes by Holmes, the design response focused on unlocking the home’s full potential - opening up volumes, enhancing natural light, and creating a seamless dialogue between interior and exterior living.
At the heart of the home, the kitchen was transformed into a central, sculptural element - paired with a refined new laundry and an elevated powder room. Each space was carefully curated to balance functionality with a warm, understated materiality, allowing the home to feel both sophisticated and effortlessly liveable.
A key moment within the project was the introduction of a secondary, self-contained retreat - designed as a flexible office or gym, with its own private entry via the side street. This addition not only enhances the daily rhythm of the home but contributes meaningful long-term value.
The resulting residence is calm, welcoming, and highly resolved - an authentic reflection of the family it was designed for. A home that now feels generous in scale, intuitive in flow, and connected in every sense.
